Asking price: $450 (negotiable, will take best offer) pictures: http://www.martinmccrory.com/public/mccrory_computer.zip (985KB) The item is in great physical condition as well as cosmetic condition. I have had no hardware problems with it until very recently, when the right speaker stopped working. No big deal, though, as laptop speakers suck anyway and the 1/8" line out is very good quality. The processor and memory are quick, and the XGA display is crisp. The wireless works everywhere it should on the UIUC campus, and the CDRW burns at an adequate speed. The hard drive is fast and has been generally error-free. The battery lasts for over two hours if you dim the screen and don't use the CD drive, and the battery charge time is very adequate. There are some minor cosmetic blemishes on the laptop, none of which affect performance. The most noticeable blemishes are wear on and near the left mouse button and scroll button (IMG_1025 and IMG_1028), some wear to the left of the keyboard (IMG_1047), some keyboard wear on the screen which is only noticeable when the monitor is powered off (see IMG_1052) and a sticker I removed to the right of the mousepad (IMG_1027). The other cosmetic blemishes that you see in the other pictures are not very substantial and are usually either a result of the flash or the light reflecting off the computer in a funny way. The only real negative about this laptop is that it's large, and slightly bulky to fit in a backpack and take with you to class. It's not too large to be unmaneuverable, however, and will fit the bill nicely if you have a roomy backpack and don't mind the weight of a full-sized laptop while you walk around. The Targus sleeve that comes with it is made of memory foam and protects it adequately. Unfortunately though, the laptop won't fit all the way into the sleeve and the top of the laptop pokes out of the sleeve. However, I've carried the computer in my backpack this way around campus for several months and it hasn't been a big problem for me. All in all, this computer is quite powerful for the price, and is in great condition for a used computer. Contact me if you're interested in buying this, and feel free to stop by and take a look if you're in town. Note: The system will be resotred to its original factory settings using the Acer Recovery CD provided at the time of retail purchase.
